ARC Review: Let The Storm Break by Shannon Messenger

Summary: Vane Weston is haunted. By the searing pull of his bond to Audra. By the lies he’s told to cover for her disappearance. By the treacherous winds that slip into his mind, trying to trap him in his worst nightmares. And as his enemies grow stronger, Vane doesn’t know how much longer he can last on his own.

But Audra’s still running. From her past. From the Gales. Even from Vane, who she doesn’t believe she deserves. And the farther she flees, the more danger she finds. She possesses the secret power her enemy craves, and protecting it might be more than she can handle—especially when she discovers Raiden’s newest weapon.

With the Gale Force weakened by recent attacks, and the power of four collapsing, Vane and Audra are forced to make a choice: keep trusting the failing winds, or turn to the people who’ve betrayed them before. But even if they survive the storms sent to destroy them, will they have anything left to hold on to?

**I received a copy from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review**

**You can find my review of Let The Sky Fall - this first book in this series -  HERE. You may want to check it out if you haven't that way you get background for the second book!**

Initial Thoughts: Wow, that ending - it was a huge cliffhanger! Next thoughts - the book was really well done and completely attention grabbing that when it was over I immediately wanted the next one. The whole book was fantastic! I loved it all. Still the same characters as the first book but there was some new ones too. I think I loved this book more than the first and the first book was amazing too. I love finding really good authors!

The Characters: Audra and Vane are obviously still the main characters and still in love which is a very good thing cause they are one of my favorite couples in books! They also are a bit changed from the first book. But in a good way though, because it shows that they both are becoming better people and who wouldn't change a bit if you found out your mom killed someone or that tons of people want you to be their king when you have no experience?  As I mentioned there are a few new characters. Gus is a new character and he was really funny and adorable and a really loyal friend. Solana is the  south wind's princess and I didn't like her that much probably because she was maybe too sweet but also expected that Vane be hers, even though he was supposed to but ended up falling in love with Audra in book one! Anyways they were all well developed and great characters.

The Story: The book starts off where the last one ended with Audra running away because of what she found out about her past but also because she wasn't supposed to bond with Vane and therefore completely broke the law. Vane is training and waiting for Audra to come back. It's still in both POV and this helps because I don't believe Audra and Vane reunite until after half-way through the story, which means there's a lot of action that takes place from the start. Audra get trapped by someone toward the beginning and so she has her struggles on that end. All the while Vane is starting to question if Audra really ever is coming back while dealing with tormenting dreams that Raiden is sending him, and training, and trying to be a leader. No pressure for him or anything. While Audra is out and trapped she learns some  information about Raiden and when she gets free, she learns more and eventually meets back up with Vane after tons of struggles and people dying. Now the ending, I said it was a huge cliffhanger and it was! I didn't see it coming because I had no idea how everything would play out. Then the ending came and I totally freaked out.

End Thoughts: Don't worry Vane and Audra still love each other. There was tons of action from the start that kept me engrossed the whole time. I truly loved the book! I'm so excited to see how everything happens in the next one! 5 stars for Let The Storm Break!!
