Review: Alienated by Melissa Landers

Summary: Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

*This paragraph is kinda my fan-girl-freak-out session, still read it :)*
I don't even know how to review this book. It was amazing, phenomenal...amazing, phenomenal, outstanding, and all the other types of adjectives there are! As soon as I got it, I immediately dropped the book I was (mind you) almost done reading and then I read it in one sitting and didn't stop at all. I couldn't. The story, the characters, everything pulled me in! I loved it all. Alienated is hands down my favorite book this year and most definitely in my top favorite books ever. I already want to read it again. I just can't describe how wonderful the story was and how connected I was to everything and everyone. I mean the book just came out today, I already read it, and now I want the next book already. I just love it so much, it's kind of unhealthy already...really unhealthy...dang those good books! Okay now that I my freak out moment...

Soooo... Cara and Aelyx are both amazing characters. They were amazingly (sorry I'm going to be using that word a lot) well developed and just outstanding characters. They were distinct and strong and I really loved them. I also liked how the book switched POVs between Cara and Aelyx, so you got to  see, especially through Aelyx, how different Earth was compared to his planet. L'eihr is definitely more dull than Earth color wise; seriously that planet was rocking gray! But it was really niceand helpful to see the contrast betweenn the two.

The story. I know I've said it already, but I'm going to say it again - loved it!! :) It's true though, there was never a dull moment.  Cara was always trying to help Aelyx and was on his side defending him, because a lot of people in Cara's town hated the idea of having Aelyx come. But she didn't care and it was so sweet!!

So anyways as the story goes on, Cara and Aelyx become closer and on L'eihr they don't kiss but I really like their equivalent to kissing. Gosh so cute and these two are also a favorite couple of mine. Their love for each other actually grows and develops throughout the story and I love it. It felt real and there not rushed and fake. The romance was developed really well plus it wasn't the center of the story but obviously there and it was perfect!

Now I could go on talking more about how amazing the book is, but I think I've established that it's a really, really good book. So with that I command you... err... I mean recommend you to read this book. I love it, the world loves it, L'eihr loves it, and you'll love it!! Definitely a 5 star book!!!!!
