Let the Sky Fall by Shannon Messenger Review

Let the Sky Fall was a book I got from the library and let me tell you it was freaking amazing. The story was unique and amazing and I absolutely LOVED it!!!
For a little background here's the summary: Seventeen-year-old Vane Weston has no idea how he survived the category five tornado that killed his parents. And he has no idea if the beautiful, dark-haired girl who’s swept through his dreams every night since the storm is real. But he hopes she is.

Seventeen-year-old Audra is a sylph, an air elemental. She walks on the wind, can translate its alluring songs, and can even coax it into a weapon with a simple string of commands. She’s also a guardian—Vane’s guardian—and has sworn an oath to protect Vane at all costs. Even if it means sacrificing her own life.

When a hasty mistake reveals their location to the enemy who murdered both of their families, Audra’s forced to help Vane remember who he is. He has a power to claim—the secret language of the West Wind, which only he can understand. But unlocking his heritage will also unlock the memory Audra needs him to forget. And their greatest danger is not the warriors coming to destroy them—but the forbidden romance that’s grown between them.

Let me just say, I've never read a story about Sylphs before. There are books about people who control the elements but never about sylphs. Like I said, the story is unique and amazingly brilliant all at the same time.
The story alternates between Audra's and Vane's pov. Audra and Vane are actually really funny together. Vane tends to get on Audra's nerves and then she kicks his butt and it's really cute. Throughout the book you can see their attraction but its kind of always been there because they knew each other when they were little but Vane doesn't remember but Audra's has always watched out for him for years from the shadows. And for Vane, ever since he forgot what happened, he still had dreams of Audra because she was the last thing he remembered so they are just adorable and funny from the beginning.

But as the story goes on, you get to see a lot of how Audra feels from the night of the tornado and how all her life since, she's blames herself for everything that happened and how she thinks she deserves everything bad that happens to her - like she hasn't eaten for ten years (food is earthly and sylphs are of the wind so food and water actually weakens them but they can eat nonetheless) and because she blames herself she pushes people away because she doesn't think she is worthy and so this conflicts with her wanting to be with Vane (which she does want because she really does like him).

From the beginning of the book though, Audra trains Vane as best as she can before the Stormers who are after them, come within eight days. She also tries to find ways to make Vane remember or learn the Westerlies (western wind) because he is the only one who can which is also the reason why people are after them - if you know the language of the four winds, then you can become very powerful, which brings us back to why Vane is being protected and all that jazz. Of course there are always problems that pop up in training and their life in general-like Vane has human parents.

Throughout the book, there is action, training, funny moments, sad ones, and happy ones. Now the ending, I thought it was going to be a little bigger than it was but that was because I missed a detail that I remember reading I just totally forgot about that applied to the ending. But I like and am sad about the ending because you learn some secrets that I had no idea about and neither did the main characters and and and something that I was waiting for the whole book to happen happened which made me really happy but I can't say cause it would really be spoiling the book. But I'm only sad because I read the blurb for the next book which I really need and want but mostly need but don't have!!1
So yeah the book was awesome and so so good and I give it 5/5 stars cause it really deserves it. Now add it to your reading lists!Happy Reading!!

Champion (Legend #3) by Marie Lu Review

Champion is the third and last book book in the legend trilogy so before I talk about Champion I'm just going to give a brief summary of the previous books, but I won't give too much away incase you haven't read it.

In Legend the first book June is 15 and a prodigy of the Republic. She is the best in everything and is from the elite. Day is 15 and is the most wanted criminal and he is from the slums. When June's brother is murdered, Day is pinned as the person who did it so June sets off to find him and turn him in, but of course things change and they become a little more than friends and so the to the next book Prodigy  (I'm skipping parts obviously)... They are hiding and eventually join the Patriots who are a group who is trying to sabotage the Republic and June and Day get split up because of it. And in this book I was "talking" to the author in mind of course and was like "I see what you're doing...don't go there" cause really I didn't want this one thing to happen to the characters but at the end of the book there was this huge unexpected plot twist and I seriously had my jaw hanging and couldn't stop saying "That can't be true, that can't be true..." but it was true and boy do I get really attached to characters cause it makes the story just so much better but because I do it made the ending even worse cause I couldn't stop thinking about how everything was going to end in the last book (in case you haven't notice I have tons of things running through my head all at once when I read...oops)

And so now to the last book Champion (sorry for the crappy summary, the books are so much more interesting then how I put them). This book is so emotional and wonderful. There are so many different types of action throughout the book, whether it be fighting, planning, treaties, allies, enemies, more fighting, shooting, kissing, helping, betrayal...it's all there. June and Day are both so awesome and you can't help but feel everything they feel, and you are always worried for them too because of something that happens at the end of the third book (which was what made me say "that can't be true") and I seriously had no idea how everything was going to end. Characters come and go, the action heightens then heightens more, the plot twits and you go crazy trying to figure everything out and before you know it there's thirty pages left and everything is going haywire and you start crying because of the ending. This ending killed me so, so much cause it ain't some happily ever after (AND I LOVE HAPPILY EVER  AFTER ENDINGS *don't judge*).  But then I saw the epilogue and then I saw that it was ten years later and then I saw that it was still sad and then I read the last two lines and my heart was filled with joy and hope and there was still some sadness but mostly I was happy and I really want an epi-epilogue or whatever you even call an epilogue after the epilogue because I want to 100% know how things ended.  So in the end you kinda get a happy ending, it was just ten years late!!

Overall I absolutely loved this book and this series and I definitely recommend it to everyone. It is definitely a 5/5 star book!! Now go read it cause it will not disappoint. Happy Reading!

Catching Fire Movie Anyone?!?!

So I saw Catching Fire on Thursday and have been meaning to write that it was amazing!!I loved, I mean there were parts that weren't in it from the book but ya know you don't get everything in a movie, but seriously the movie was so good and I think it was better than the first one and probably better than the book. I want to go back and watch it again and oh oh oh the trailers before the movie!!! Vampire Academy was the first trailer and I was so excited because I really like those books and then the Divergent trailer came on I was freaking out so much. Waiting on Wednesday 11/20/13

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

The book I'm waiting on is one I've been waiting awhile for. The book is called Alienated by Melissa Landers. It sounds really interesting and the cover is gorgeous I think. You know the saying "don't judge a book by its cover"???Yeah well I do that a lot...I tend to look for covers that grab my attention, but not always but this one did grab my attention...now you know a little, random, unnecessary fact about me...anyways I'm really excited for this book!!!

Publication: February 4th 2014(<-----It feels so far away!!)
Synopsis: Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L'eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she'll have inside information about the mysterious L'eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara's blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn't sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L'eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn't seem more alien. She's certain about one thing though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn't just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life-not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Stacking the Shelves + Other Random Notes

Okay so Stacking the Shelves is normally done on Sunday but I spent all Sunday writing papers so I apologize for that and so I felt like doing it today...

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

So last week I totally broke my "No Books" rule because of my tests and stuff but I only ended up reading three books...I read:
Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry (5/5)
Rua by Mirandda Kavi (4/5)
Masquerade by Cambria Herbert (5/5)

Books I Bought:
Masquerade by Cambria Herbert
Rua by Mirandda Kavi
Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter by Nikki Jefford
The Gatekeeper's Sons by Eva Pohler

Books I got from the Library:
Prodigy (Legend #2) By Marie Lu
Champion (Legend #3) by Marie Lu
Invisibility by Amanda Cremer & David Levithan

I hope you all have a great week last doing whatever and reading of course. I hope to have more reviews coming..I don't know on what yet but I'll think of some books and if you have and suggestions, I'm willing to listen!!Happy Reading!

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
So the book I'm reading right now is Prodigy (Legend #2) by Marie Lu...
This is from the pov of June and is her thoughts right now... Remember, be obvious. Make him think you're flattered. And attracted to him. He is handsome, for sure - so I try to focus on that...He's some mix of Latin blood, but the ever-so-slightof his large eyes and the delicateness of his brow reveal a hint of Asian heritage. Like Day. Suddenly, my attention scatters, and all I can see is me and Day kissing  in that Vegas bathroom.
And I want to do another one too, again from June's pov (although if you've read the first book but not the second this is kinda a spoiler)... Finally, he runs a hand through his hair and mumbles, "I knelt over Metias and watched him die. My hand on that knife. He..." I wait, light-headed from the words he's saying. "He told me not to hurt you," Thomas continues. "His last words were about you." (Metias was June's brother...)

Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

So the I'm waiting for doesn't have a title yet or a release data, BUT it is the first book in the spin series for The Significance Series by Shelly Crane (I hope that makes sense). So I'll just talk about The Significance Series for a bit then. This series is four books and really really good (it is going to be made into a tv series I believe!!!!!) So I guess I'll give a synopsis of the first book and just say that I'm super excited for the next book of the series that comes after it to come out cause I really enjoy The Significance Series (It's like the percy jackson series, there is the first series and then the one that comes after...so yeah a spin off)
(This is the first book in the series)
Synopsis:
Maggie is a seventeen year old girl who's had a bad year. She was smart and on track but then her mom left, her dad is depressed, she's graduating, barely, and her boyfriend of almost three years dumped her for a college football schalorship. Lately she thinks life is all about hanging on by a thread and is gripping tight with everything she has. Then she meets Caleb. She saves his life and instantly knows there's something about him that's intriguing but she is supposed to be on her way to a date with his cousin. But things change when they touch, sparks ignite. Literally. They imprint with each other and she sees their future life together flash before her eyes. She learns that not only is she his soul mate, and can feel his heartbeat in her chest, but there is a whole other world of people with gifts and abilities that she never knew existed. She herself is experiencing supernatural changes unlike anything she's ever felt before and she needs the touch of his skin to survive. Now, not only has her dad come out of his depression to be a father again, and a pain as well, but Caleb's enemies know he's imprinted and are after Maggie to stop them both from gaining their abilities and take her from him. Can Caleb save her or will they be forced to live without each other after just finding one another?

Okay so I'm not currently reading anything right now because I have a lot of tests this week and I'm making myself not read otherwise I'll never study, so I'm going to give a teaser from my favorite book this year which is Sentinel (by Jennifer Armentrout). Now I don't know what kind of genres you guys are in to so I'll post two teasers from it. One for the romancy part and one that's funny because the book is really funny too!! So here ya go...
Romancy: I blinked back the wetness gathering in my eyes. "I think you spend your spare time studying a book full of the right things to say." He chuckled softly, and then his lips brushed mine in a quick kiss. "Nah. I just love you, Alex." (They are so SO cute!!!)
Funny: Aiden drew back with a soft groan. "Sometimes I hate him." My lips curved up. "Sometimes." "I heard that," Apollo said. "And I'm pretty sure there's someone else you hate moe than me. I'll give you two clues. Starts with an S and ends with a H." There was an audible huff from inside the office.
Btw the name was Seth and he was in the room when that was said...

Updates

So I was going to do a post yesterday for swoon thursday (so I'll just start next week) but I have a really good excuse... I ended up reading two books yesterday evening !!!So I was busy reading and I read

Legend by Marie Lu

Aaaaaand

A Mind Abducted by Corinne Leigh Donovan

So I'm just going to give synopsis for the books incase you haven't heard of them but I guessing Legend is more famous, but both are very good reads...I really likes Legend and already have the next two books coming from the library!

Legend: What was once the western United States is now home to the Republic, a nation perpetually at war with its neighbors. Born into an elite family in one of the Republic's wealthiest districts, fifteen-year-old June is a prodigy being groomed for success in the Republic's highest military circles. Born into the slums, fifteen-year-old Day is the country's most wanted criminal. But his motives may not be as malicious as they seem.

From very different worlds, June and Day have no reason to cross paths - until the day June's brother, Metias, is murdered and Day becomes the prime suspect. Caught in the ultimate game of cat and mouse, Day is in a race for his family's survival, while June seeks to avenge Metias's death. But in a shocking turn of events, the two uncover the truth of what has really brought them together, and the sinister lengths their country will go to keep its secrets.

A Mind Abducted: Josie, responsible beyond her age, is helpful around the house, takes good care of her younger sister, and always follows the rules.

This is not enough to prevent her from being abducted by a madman. Making it her mission to fight back, she gives everything she has to outsmart her abductor.

With the help of an unexpected ally, she learns how to keep herself alive long enough to come up with a plan. But, will the plan work?

Will she die at the hands of her captor? And if she survives, will she make it back to her family?

Now I'm off to read more books while I wait for more from the library...sigh...so many books so little time...Happy Reading!!

Waiting On Wednesday

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

The book I'm waiting for is called...
Don't Look Back by Jennifer Armentrout
Publication: April 15th 2014 by Disney-Hyperion

Summary:
Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Sam had it all-popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. Sam is pretty sure that losing her memories is like winning the lottery. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Ortiz, a boy who has always looked out for her-even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory-someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

So yeah I'm waiting for this book and it's still a long wait for it to come out which means I just have to read tons of other books I have! What are you waiting for???

My Teaser for the week is from Unlikely Allies By Tiffany King...
I leaned over and gently kissed his forehead. "There, does that help?" I asked, pulling back slightly.              "Not even close," he said, snaking his hand up into my hair. He dragged me in close, pulling me to his lips.   After a moment, I pulled back. "All right hot stuff, let me finish my work."

Sentinel by Jennifer Armentrout Review

How many times do I have to tell you guys that Jennifer Armentrout is the most talented author out there?!?!? Cause really she is. I own at least 16 of her books and have loved every. single. one.
Now Sentinel the last very last book in her Covenant series came out today. I already finished it. I cried the last 10% of the book and afterwards. I couldn't stop crying. Anyone else who finished it said they cried too...it. was. beautiful. I don't know how I can even give the credit this book and author deserves. It was amazing and I can't stop saying how amazing it was and how much I loved it...

The book starts off right where the last one ended and Alex the main character is broken a bit from her encounter with Ares and she realizes something is wrong but can't figure it out and you keep trying to figure out what's going on and you guess and hope and then BAM! and then you're like Oh that makes sooo much sense as to why Alex was acting how she was but the story continues on and there is so much action and did I mention this series is Paranormal Romance?!?!?...nope hehe oops okay well it is...sometimes heavy on the romance but can you blame the author when you have a character like Aiden (who I'll get to soon enough)...anyways action..yeah that..all the action in the story is great...there are so many unexpected things that happen and you're like WHAT!?! HOW!!okay okay breathe...and you can't help but love everything that happens

Now Seth...he is a character that I hated for the most part except on the occasion when he was sarcastic..I really love sarcasm btw...my family doesn't understand though..anyways...but nonetheless I didn't like him throughout the series but in this book..he seriously redeemed himself and I actually love him and I seriously hated him..but it's all good now!!:)

Okay now Aiden...Aiden was my first book boyfriend and is still my one true love even though he's Alex's. Alex and Aiden are so darn cute I love them and they have loved each other from the first book and ahhh so cute and Aiden is soooo totally swoon worthy and hot and really sexy but so sweet and caring and overprotective (as always) of Alex in the book. I love everything about those two and in the end I was bawling my head off because something bad does happen and I'm like when people die they stay dead..well at least the second time around if you've read the other books hehehe...

...So yeah, in the end things worked out in totally seriously unexpected way. The ending was perfect. so freaking perfect especially for this series and I really want a spin off because no one I mean on one can ever have enough of Alex and Aiden. Again everything was perfect and beautiful and this series is the only series where I have ever cried during more than one of the books..it's more like all of them because they are just that awesome...and I don't really ever cry in books(I think maybe four series including this one) so if you hear me say I cried..it was good. I really hate that this series ended because it is and will always be my favorite but I loved how it end...but seriously I want more Alex and Aiden and oh Aiden's brother Deacon is really funny (I forgot to mention that...)

Now I am seriously begging you-go read this whole series and every single book by Jennifer Armentrout. She is awesome and talented and amazing and I need more words to describe how much I really love her and her books. I don't care if you don't want to spend money on books...just do it cause it is soooo worth it in the end...(if you really want I will lend my books cause they are ebooks if you really want to read them but don't want to buy..I will, seriously just ask)

I rate this book 10/10 but it deserves so much more and go but this book, this series, and all other books by Jennifer Armentrout..cause this series has been optioned for a tv show and another of her series (The Lux series) is going to be a movie..she's that awesome...now go and enjoy and happy readings to all!!
Like I said earlier I will lend my ebooks to you if you want...leave a comment if you do!
